Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Flood Risk and Drainage specialist to lead and grow a Water Environment consultancy team delivering projects across a wide range of sectors.
This position combines technical leadership with commercial responsibility. The successful candidate will oversee delivery of flood risk and drainage services while also supporting team growth, client development and expansion of the water environment discipline.
The role would suit an individual capable of combining strong technical expertise in flood risk and hydraulic modelling with the ability to manage projects, build client relationships and contribute to business growth.
Projects typically support development and infrastructure planning across sectors including energy, industrial, commercial, residential and major infrastructure schemes.
Key Responsibilities
Typical responsibilities may include:
- Preparing Flood Risk Assessments (FRA) to support development and planning applications
- Preparing drainage strategies and surface water management plans
- Designing surface water drainage systems for development projects
- Undertaking hydraulic modelling and hydrological analysis
- Supporting the design of sustainable drainage systems
- Conducting technical data analysis for flood risk and drainage assessments
- Preparing technical reports and supporting documentation for planning submissions
- Supporting multidisciplinary environmental and engineering projects
- Liaising with clients, planners and technical teams during project delivery
- Contributing to project delivery across infrastructure, residential, commercial and industrial development sectors
- Undertaking site visits and data collection activities where required
Candidate Requirements
Candidates should demonstrate strong technical capability in flood risk and drainage combined with consultancy or engineering project leadership experience.
The successful individual will ideally possess:
- A BSc or MSc in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Hydrology or a related discipline
- Experience supporting Flood Risk Assessments (FRA) and drainage strategies
- Experience working with hydraulic or drainage modelling software such as InfoDrainage, MicroDrainage or equivalent
- Experience supporting surface water drainage design and sustainable drainage systems
- Knowledge of planning and regulatory frameworks relating to flood risk and drainage
- Strong technical report writing and analytical skills
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering and environmental teams
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to undertake site visits
